Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Bali, Indonesia

Constructed in the style of a classic Balinese village, Mandapa is built around an already existing Hindu shrine — providing a unique, spiritual experience that celebrates traditional Balinese culture.

Ubud is a town located in the centre of Bali, away from the busy coastline and surrounded by a beautifully forested landscape. It is here that you will find its famous rice terraces, its most famous temples and a very active cultural and artisan life.

Ubud is known for being a charismatic city where you can wander aimlessly through its streets, discovering every corner, little shop, its market and the handicraft objects that its inhabitants create with so much love. Nearby is one of the most important temples in Bali, Pula Ulu Danu Baratan, built in the 17th century and the image of many of the island’s postcards.

But the essence of the Ubud region is its rice paddies, such as the one you will find in Tegallalang, perhaps one of the most beautiful and picturesque. There you will be able to understand the life of the farmers of the most popular cereal in Asia. Ritz-Carlton Mandapa is situated on the banks of the majestic Ayung River surrounded by the deep jungle of Ubud. Its hilltop entrance offers a breathtaking view of the entire resort, recreating an authentic Balinese village with its own rice field and temple.

Mandapa is a surprising journey with a well-deserved WOW effect. Its entrance, from the main street is humble, almost a back street that anyone could miss, until you reach its main entrance, where a ramp surrounded by fountains leads you to the reception.

There a large terrace gives way to the amazing view of Mandapa. An enclosed valley embraces the resort, with the Ayung River outlining the 25 private pool villas on its banks. A rice field and temple are at the centre of the resort designed for guests to experience Balinese planting methods and culture.

Both the villas and the 35 luxurious suites have been designed to magnify and embrace the surrounding tropical landscape. The interiors have been designed by Jeffrey Wilkes of the renowned DesignWilkes studio. All elements used at Mandapa are inspired by and sourced from sustainable natural materials and sourced from local suppliers.

At Mandapa village you will find five restaurants offering authentic Indonesian, Balinese and Mediterranean- European cuisine. For light dining and mixology experiences, their newest addition Hanging Bar, located on the highest terrace, has incredible views of the sunset, with a menu of exotic and delicious drinks.

For the little ones, Mandapa Camp is an authentic educational and recreational centre with an organic garden and farm. Here children will be inspired and encouraged to be more creative and innovative.

The Mandapa Spa, located on the banks of the Ayung River, is a wellness paradise, with proposals for discovering inner and body peace. There are holistic, comprehensive wellness and lifestyle programmes based on 5 pillars – Balinese Spa, Detox and Nutrition, Alternative Therapies, Body Therapies, and Healing. Their experts will be able to advise you and design a programme according to your goals.
To get to know the area and its culture, Mandapa offers activities in the region aboard a classic Volkswagen VW 181 convertible, visiting the rice field of Ceking village, Sebatu water temple and the historical Gunung Kawi. A picnic lunch pit-stop along the way completes the ultimate vintage experience.

The Mandapa Spa has 7 treatment cabins that use aromatherapy products with local ingredients and natural plants. It also has a state-of-the-art fitness room, sauna, vitality-pool, yoga studio by the river and relaxation areas. Finally, the Detox and Nutrition pillar offers personalised advice where they can create a detox menu with plant-based and organic ingredients based on your goals.
