Peninsula: Each city has its own scent

The first hotel group to introduce amenities with packaging that is 99.9% petroleum plastic free with curated fragrances inspired by each hotel and its hometown.

The Peninsula Hotels is the first hotel group to take a truly holistic approach to honouring the scent story of each hotel’s individual location, while embracing a planet-conscious ethos. Created by talented fragrance curators in each destination, each amenity suite features locally created and bespoke fragrances, natural ingredients and sustainable packaging to enhance guests’ stay experience.

Each place inspires a scent. Created by local curators.

In creating its new line of guestroom amenities, The Peninsula Hotels aspired to do more than simply provide its guests with high quality bathroom products. The company aims to foster a deeply distinctive and sensory immersion in each of its hotels. To this end, the hotel group sought out the most accomplished artisan perfumers living in each of its property’s home cities: fragrance curators whose knowledge of the region and native botanical ingredients facilitate the crafting of custom scents that embody the essence of their locations. These custom scents are incorporated into the bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body milk and soap).

Skin-friendly and earth-friendly ingredients and packaging

All fragrances in the firm’s new line are made with natural ingredients and aromatic essences, including skin emollients such as shea butter, sweet almond oil and olive oil. All are free of gluten, soy and harmful chemicals such as parabens, silicone and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS).

In keeping with the group’s hotels’ commitment to sustainable luxury, the amenities also use packaging that is 99.9% free of single-use petroleum plastics. Body milk, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner packaging are made from 45% recycled aluminium (which is easily recyclable in many parts of the world, unlike most other materials); packaging lids are also made from a recyclable metal alloy. In addition, commodities such as shower caps, toothbrushes and razors that previously incorporated petroleum plastics have been replaced with more environmentally friendly alternatives made from corn starch, wheat, wood and recycled metal. Internal plastic packaging for these services has also been eliminated. To maintain hygiene and moisture control, the certified sustainable paper packaging is now coated on the inside with UV oil and treated externally with a perforated seal to prevent
tampering.
